oh yes… I thank cycling for my new awesome endurance. Whether it’s running, a 30 minute abs class (piece of cake now) or an hour of intense body attack class. Cycling… it’s a love hate relationship

adore cycling sfm. <3

Bike Your Butt Off! Why cycling and spinning are great workouts
Back when you were a kid, hopping on a two-wheeler wasn’t a way to burn off last night’s ice cream cone—it was fun. Today, many women are rekindling that childhood love by pedaling to work, competing in races, or just tooling around town. They’re finding that biking isn’t just a welcome break from mind-numbing elliptical sessions: It’s a surefire way to slim down and tone your tush.
Even a casual ride delivers a one-two punch of cardio and muscle strengthening. A 135-pound woman can blast nearly 500 calories in an hour of cycling at a comfortable clip. And each pedal stroke works your entire lower body and your core, sculpting a tight body. Hit the saddle!

  1. fitandnerdy said: awesome! what kind of bike do you ride?
  2.  theloveliestgirl said: Wow, where/how much?!

I ride a Fuji Touring bike. It’s been through a lot with me—carried me everywhere through all of college, got stolen on Halloween ‘08 then miraculously recovered, etc etc. It’s mah baybeh. <3

One of my rewards for weight loss is a new bike, though…I’ve had this one since 2007, it doesn’t fit me correctly, and I’d be passing it on to my little sister (who is trying to get into biking but doesn’t have one of her own. :D)

And I bought my trainer from www.performancebike.com! It’s this one, $160.00 on that site. It’s a bit expensive but IMO worth it because I know I’m going to make excuses to not ride if it’s raining outside. There are cheaper ones on amazon but I heard from some cyclist buddies that fluid trainers are the way to go.

ETA: also, a little more expensive trainer = doesn’t sound like a vaccum cleaner when you use it. apparently trainers can be VERY F-ING LOUD. hahaha.

// I BOUGHT A BIKE TRAINER!!!! Soooo excited.//

For those of you who might not know, a trainer is something you can set your bike up on so you can turn it into a spin cycle and bike indoors. It provides resistance on your wheels so it’s like riding outside. This means that I won’t be able to get out of biking by saying “It’s dark already!” or “It’s raining!”

:D
